dear professor

sorry i've been so mia lately. somehow i've managed to get myself quiteeee sick and have spent the last few days huddled into a ball on the couch with heaping stacks of tissues all around me. I don't know what it is about this semester but I feel like I am ALWAYS sick. Like I'm really not the type to get sick but I've had to email so many professors telling them that I won't be in class. But I feel better today so let's hope the worst is over. At least I better be healthy by Thursday because the senior class is having "Pints with Profs" that evening and I've been looking forward to that since freshman year. Yay free alcohol! Also, my housemates and I are throwing a party at our humble abode that night and I can't be sick for that. Too many fun people have been invited! Question: is it not true that when making a guest list, you should try to figure out how the group dynamic will work? You don;t want to invite people who will feel awkward or left out obviously. I swear nobody but me thinks about these things haha

WHATEVA I found this survey thing on my daily blog read and thought I'd fill it out. You guys should do it too! I would love to see other people's answers!

1. what inspires you?
like clothes and outfits wise? kind of a little of blogs, magazine ads, things I see on other people, colors I like
2. what was the last thing you bought yourself?
coconut water. I found some today in the devil's den (convenience store for my school) and had to try it
3. would you rather watch a movie in a theater or from the comfort of your own home?
dependsssss but generally at home i think
4. household chore you don't mind doing?
i guess vacumming. it goes by super quickly
5. coffee or tea?
tea. all day, every day
6. what could you eat every day and not get sick of??
popcorn. but not that microwave stuff, i like real popcorn
7. what's the last book you read?
reread "True Prep" over spring break
8. do you think you look you "look" your age?
I'd have to say yes. That's a good thing right?

rain rain go away

I hate the fickleness that is spring weather. Yesterday was gorgeous for March. I'm talking sleeveless shirts and laxing on the quad with a few spottings of the knees for good measure. I even flirted with the idea of changing into a sundress (with boots and a cardigan obvi). NONE of these are things I could say about today. NOT A SINGLE ONE. It is cold and deary and misty and foggy and all around unpleasant. I've had to retreat into the Dickinson Girl uniform with leggings and an oversized sweater. Although, in my defense, I passed on the Hunters...see?! I can be an individual too! I'm ready for day drinking and outdoor parties and pretty dresses and shorts and sunglasses and sunshine!

2 skool 4 kool

Back at Dickinson! Hey holla holla hey! Too bad none of my housemates are coming back till tomorrow and I'm slowly going brain dead by myself. I just reorganized my closet into further subsections by arranging each clothing type by color...aren't I the funnest? Just kidding...I've actually been meaning to do that for a while. It doesn't matter how messy the rest of my room is, my closet will always be perfectly divided into its specific sections. Right now, it issss (from left to right) sweaters, button downs, skirts, dresses, cardigans, jackets and coats with jeans on the shelf above and t-shirts and tanks in their own respective drawers. Sorry I'm not sorry that I'm more than a little anal haha

I saw this during my daily blog browse and I kind of really wanted to do it. Enjoy!

guilty pleasure: sweet tea. and I mean sweeeeeet tea
candy bar: I'm not a fan of chocolate but I do like almond joys and take 5s
house plant: um I had one until today when my mom took it home. I don't know what it was but "dead" would be my best bet. I sucked at remembering to water that thing
nail polish color: right now I have one orly's lemonade with OPI Black Shatter over top of it. I. am. OBSESSED with black shatter. go buy it right now. It's so cool. It's a black top coat that makes your nail polish look at cool and crackle-y. I've gotten maaaad compliments on it.
midnight snack: popcorn!
drugstore essential: as of this week, dry shampoo. Have you ever tried that stuff? It's like heaven in a can.
weird habit: oh jeez. let's go with my closet organization...that's weird right?
pet peeve: i hate when people crinkle straw wrappers into little balls. it makes my eyeballs itch haha

Have a great weekend!

brain drain

Have you ever experienced that moment in time when you're tap-tap-tapping away at a paper all super furiously and you just can't stop because you're just so full of really good ideas and you could totally write for like 2 hours straight but you don't have to because you know that you're going to get your entire paper written in like the next one hour with so much extra time to spare but thennnn all of a sudden you get distracted by something so small and that's it. It's all gone. Every great idea you've ever had or ever will have is gone. Forever. Doesn't that moment suck? It just happened to me. Balls. Anybody want to write another 1000 words on the cultural and national forces that caused American musical theatre to become the shining institution it is today because I sure don't. Maybe going downstairs and eating some ice cream will re-trigger my insatiable need to put words on a page ...

really love your peaches, wanna shake your tree

I have decided that professors who assign large assignment to be turned in the day we return from Spring Break are just cruel and freaking sadistic. I thought (and any normal person would think the same) that my mid-term paper for Music in America (aka musicals) was due the second class meeting after break but NO. Got an email yesterday saying a hard-copy is due in class on Monday. I haven't even started this stupid paper and I've just been home all week. Can you imagine if  I was actually somewhere fun and I had to spend my valuable time in a hotel room typing away at a 3000 word paper instead of tanning on the beach and getting drunk? I would be highly upset, that's all I'm saying.

GORGEOUS weather in Baltimore today! I'm talking easily 70 degrees. Why can't the weather always be like that (or even nicer...I do love the upper 90s, not gonna lie). All I wanted to do was wear shorts or pretty dresses and wedges. You know, just perfect weather sorts of outfits with big sunglasses and sweet tea decidedly not optional.

Also, side note, my last sorority formal is coming up and I have absolutely nothing to wear to it! Formals at my school aren't as formally attired as some others I've heard of; it's more like cocktail attire. I usually err on the side of classy at them, mostly just because I like to get downnnnn on the dancefloor and that's hard to do with a dress that stops at my crotch, but I'm thinking that I can afford to be more scandalous at my last ever formal haha. I'll be spending my last day at home scouring stores for the perfect dress because there is absolutely nowhere to go shopping at school.

I kinda want to wear cowboy boots to that weird?
sorry i'm not sorry that i love my fryes

can't stop, won't stop

I thought about graduation today and almost had a full blown panic attack. WHYYYY am I so stressed out about this? Literally, thousands of people graduate every single year so I don't know why I get to have some sort of priority in the stress out lane over here. Maybe it's because my mini-feed has been taken up by thesis page count down and exclamations about getting jobs and "I'm moving to DC!" type statuses that it's just really getting to me. I have no clue what I'm doing in less than 90 freaking days. I just want to be able to figure out what exactly I'm supposed to be doing after this but no flashes of genius or good luck has come my way. AH! Whatever. I'll live it up while I can.

Imma party and party and party and pa and pa and partayyyy (and fill out more internship and job applications!)

go fight win

ugh cheer tryouts are coming up. usually that's not a huge cause of concern for me but since I was captain this past year, it's up to me to plan and run them for the upcoming school year. It's weird how something I loved so much can be such a cause of annoyance (i almost wrote "annoyment" just now. i speek gud english) by the end of it all. Anybody want to volunteer to take over for me? I'm tired of looking at like a bajillion youtube videos for new cheers that we haven't already done or for fun dances to teach the girls at the try-out clinic. I would much rather be doing something more eating ice cream or watching a movie or updating my tumblr. Yes, I now have a tumblr. What can I say? I'm social media obsessed. But in my defense, it's not my fault! I'm just a product of my generation, right? Besides, as part of my senior year bucket list, I gave up facebook for the week and I need something new to check obsessively...which, now that I think about it, kind of defeats the purpose of giving up facebook in the first place...

slappin da bass

There is nothing better than the feeling of finally getting to pull out your summer clothes after months and months of cold and snow and ice and yuckness. When I was younger, there was always such a huge difference between summer and winter clothes and now that I'm older, the divide has definitely become a lot blurrier but that doesn't mean that there aren't things that I solely reserve for after spring break but before fall pause. Went through all my fun clothes and summer shoes and it was such a tease. Trying on pastel dresses and white jeans and wedges (oh my!) just makes me want summer THAT MUCH MORE. According to, Carlisle will finally be getting to at least the upper 50s and I plan on taking advantage of every single semi-warm day from now till graduation.

winter for poland and france

Great Spring Break so farrrr! I learned to do something today that I've always wanted to to ski! I realize that I'm like 10 years behind the learning curve on that one (literally. i feel like everyone at my school knows how to ski and my 10 year old brother knows how to do it now too) but now I'm finally allowed to be part of that super cool skier club....right? Skis are actually a lot heavier than I expected them to be. I'm not really sure why I honestly expected them to weigh the same as a feather but I was pretty surprised. Another thing I was not surprised about though is how incredibly unwieldy those things are. Like obviously, you would get used to them but still haha

Also I finally got to watch one of my favorite musicals of all time...The Producers. This is literally laugh out loud hilarious and if you haven't seen it yet, then stop reading this post and go do that. NOW. It's the story of how these 2 guys set out to make the worst musical of all time in order to cheat the system and try to make some money. The musical in the movie is called Springtime for Hitler and if that's not sure to be a flop, I don't know what is. Of course, the musical is a total hit and everyone in New York City loves it and they get in oodles of trouble and it's amazing. I have a bunch more movies that I want to watch while I'm home on break so I plan to spend a lot of time in bed with stove-popped popcorn. YUM!

Spring Break 2011

YAY! It is now officially spring break (well officially for me...I decided last night that I was going to skip the rest of my classes for the week....sorry I'm not sorry....but don't tell my parents; I told them class was optional). SPRING BREAK SPRING BREAK SPRING BREAK! I just don't know what to do with all my time...I mean OBVIOUSLY i'm going to get my sleep on but what else should I do? I don't really want to do homework. Maybe I'll go to the library tomorrow and get a whole bunch of really trashy "young adult" fiction. I feel like this is the last time it'll ever be acceptable for me to go to the young adult section of the library because after graduation, aren't I like a real adult? Eek! Speaking of's only like 70 days away! There are so many things I should do between now and then. If you guys were to make a "bucket list" of things to accomplish before graduation, what would you suggest?

wasabi wednesday

do you know what i absolutely l o v e? Food. I love food. I don't actually like making food most of the time though but that doesn't really matter since there's this little thing called a "restaurant" that does that for you. I'm going out for what was supposed to be a "big-little" dinner with me, my roommate, one of our friends from our pc and our respective littles but all of the little ones have work to do (sad, right?). Obviously, that didn't deter us seniors at all so we're still going out to eat at Mt. Fuji, the local Japanese restaurant. Nom nom nom. I can't wait. Best part? It's byob. Is there a better combination than wine and sushi? Because if there is, I haven't discovered it yet.
So yesterday was Fat Tuesday and it was surprisingly lackluster. Not that I really expected anything less, considering it is mid-terms week (no mid-terms for me though!), but people weren't even wearing beads around during the day. It was kind of sad actually.

Something else that's really sad....the fact that my sorority has taken such a different direction than when I joined it. I feel so bad for all of the sophomores (we rush and pledge as sophomores here) because they've never known the Kappa that I've knew. I feel like they've gotten such a limited view of what it means to be Kappa because so many chapter traditions have just kind of gone out of the that a weird thing to be upset about? I'm honestly not that into sorority life usually but I think I'm getting kind of sentimental about it since I'm on my way out.

Sorry that this post was kind of all over the place! I'm in a really loopy mood right now and it's definitely coming across as I'm writing haha

red or blue pill?

i'm bi-winning

okay okay i'm back! I know that I have been seriously neglecting my tiny segment of the blogosphere and I'm really sorry for that. Another thing that I'm not sorry for? Not doing that 30 day challenge anymore. It was kind of cramping my style so sorry I'm not sorry. I'm sure you guys will really miss it....not.

I honestly had more work last week than I've had all semester. To be fair, I didn't have THAT much comparatively but since I've had pretty much all 100 level courses senior year, I've kind of forgotten how to do real work. But not to worry, all that nonsense is done for a while. This is my last week of classes before Spring Break and I'm pumped! I don't actually have any plans except to sleep lots, eat more and catch up on my shows but really...what else does a girl need? Honestly, I've always wanted to do one of those stupid stereotypical spring breaks but I never actually got around to it so whatever haha.

I have been playing this song on REPEAT for the past two weeks. The video is super weird but I think I kind of like it....don't judge. (although those last 3 seconds are realllll can judge that part)

I promise that I'll be posting more often so don't hate me please!

Sorry that I've been RIDICULOUSLY MIA recently (feel free to hate me for it) but I've been super duper swamped with work. But that's all fine now. Guess why?
