Have you ever tried to "artfully" rip tights? You know, when you make them look all holey and full of runs the way all the cool kids on the block wear them? No? Well don't. Turns out that shit is waaaaay harder than it looks. I got a run in a pair of my black tights during class on Friday and instead of just throwing them out, I decided to use them to make myself a cool, urban, grungy, "I-wish-I had-her-outfit" type of outfit. It took my roommate and I literally 3 youtube videos and an intensive google search to get anything that even semi-resembled cool. At one point, I simply had to hand the (safety) scissors over to my roommate and allow her to do her thing. They were worth it by the end of the night even though everyone I saw Friday night had NO idea what to make of my outfit. I kept them to try the look again later but I can't imagine how I'm going to get back into those things....there are WAY too many holes at this point haha.
In other news, new Lonely Island video!

It's FRIIIIDAY! Thank GOD! Somehow this week was the longest ever and full of so much work...like what happened to good old syllabus week professors?? Everyone I know, no matter what year they are, is positively swamped with readings. Not that any of that stopped us Dickinson kids for getting our party on. Seriously, the bars have been packed all week long and I, for one, don't hate it! Although, not going to lie, this never ending stream of snow is really putting a damper on my fun-o-meter. Apparently, my brother down in Maryland hasn't had school ALL week....how outrageous is that??
I've had to resort to doing blackberry outfit pics since I still can't find my cable so sorry for the less than great quality.
What are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun? I just want to see as many people that I can fit in this weekend and have a good time dancing to some obnoxiously loud music
Classic.

There's a birthday party for one of the girls of my pc tonight and the world is COVERED in snow. Things I hate: the sound of fresh snow being squished when I walk on it. Another thing I hate: the fact that the snow boots i FINALLY ordered senior year (better late than never) are back ordered until the middle of February and that it'll probably be spring by the time I actually get them. HOWEVERRRRR things I love: my new phone cover came in the mail and it's so obnoxiously neon that it makes everything around it seem a little bit brighter. Things I love part dos: seeing everyone who has been abroad for the past semester and that I really really missed.

Today was my last first Tuesday. Ever. In my undergraduate career. It's so weird to think that this is really the end....not that it's fully hit me yet. I'm pretty sure I won't be totally aware that it's over until its's August and my facebook minifeed is filled with "back to carlisle" status updates. But whatever. That's then NOT now. Sorry I've haven't been posting but the first few days of a new semester are always so busy and full. I've barely even checked my facebook and twitter in the past couple of days but I don't have any classes tomorrow so hopefully I can use that time to decompress or something haha. Took a few ootd pics for you guys but my camera connecter is nowhere to be found (story of my life) so you'll have to wait for those but here's what I basically wore today...
We're supposed to have a snow storm tonight so thank God I don't have to leave my house to trek to class tomorrow morning. OH! Watched Mean Girls 2 on tv Sunday night...wow. Just wow. That's all. For your sake, please don't watch it. It's exactly like the original Mean Girls only without anyone fun or any good one liners. Even the covers are exactly the same!

Back to school tomorrrrrow! AH so excited! I've been on break for entirely too long. Somehow I have a bajillion point six bags to take back and it's supposed to be absolutely frigid tomorrow....I'm talking 19 degrees outside people. I'm dressing for functionality tomorrow and not fashion...well during the day anyways haha. After unpacking (and subsequently discovering I don't have enough hangers...calling it), I'm going out to a Japanese restaurant with one of my roommates and a few friends for dinner and I can NOT wait. Here's my outfit for unpacking and carting things around in the frost tomorrow
I like men's sweaters so much more than ones for girls, especially when they're over-sized. I don't know what it is but they just seem warmer and softer and all around more comfortable.

So unless you've been living on Mars for the past week, you've heard all about the new Starbucks drink size: the trenta. It's 31 freaking ounces. I'll be honest, I actually hate the 'bucks but only because I don't like coffee and don't think their chai tea is sweet enough. At first, I was kind of blown away by just how huge this new drink is before I realized that my beloved McDonalds sweet tea is actually an ounce bigger (why yes, I would like a side of diabetes with my drinks! How thoughtful of you to ask!). And then I found THIS lovely diagram and realized that I legitimately should be intimidated by a drink that big. Well that and it's fancy European name.

Do you guys realizes that these drinks are bigger than the average person's stomach?? Mind = Blown.

I was inspired by Christine over at bun&borough to share my "currently" list with you guys so here it is! This is me riiiight this very second. Happy Hump Day!
eating/drinking: nothing i just had dinner. have you guys ever had sugar snap peas? Obsessed
listening to: new stuff by Avril Lavigne called "What the Hell." So random, I know. Like where did she come from? Surprisingly catchy
lamenting: the fact that it's still winter. so over this season.
pondering: what to wear on my last first day of classes. don't judge! I like to plan ahead...
wearing: this super cute bracelet I bought the other day on sale!
anticipating: going back to school this weekend and seeing people again
baking: ha, is that a joke? although I did make snickerdoodle cookies last night...
reading: True Prep by Lisa Birnbach
loving: my new earmuffs. walking to class blows when you feel like your ears are about to fall off
buying: textbooks (boo)
What are you guys up to? I'd love to see your "currently" lists!

I went down to Baltimore this morning with my mom and one of her friends to check out one of those bookstores that will let you swap your books (I cleaned out my room all day saturday and found a few things to donate) and it was really cool because all the books there are free! Yup, 100% free. It runs entirely off of donations from people but you don't have to donate anything to take books. There's not even a limit to how many books you can have and they actually provide huge boxes for you to carry out filled with your new treasures. Needless to say, for someone like me whose mom's idea of punishment when I was little was to not let me read (laugh all you want but that sucked), it was HEAVEN.On the way down to the city we decided to try to eat lunch in a little Cuban restaurant called Little Havana but the wait was outrageously long so that was a no go (obviously they're doing something right so I'll try again later and let you guys know how it was) and ended up at a less than satisfactory cafe but I got a nice hot chai out of the deal so I was okay with it haha. Regardless it was nice to see a little bit more of Baltimore. I only live 30 minutes away but I rarely ever venture down there.
In other news, I feel like my school is the only one in the universe that hasn't started classes yet. This break was TOO long.

the wider the leg, the closer to god?

so APPARENTLY, according several fashion forecasters, skinny jeans are out and wide leg jeans are in and I'm still not sure how I feel about. Don't get me wrong, I've been rocking a pair of AG wide leg jeans since freshmen year and they're super forgiving while still making me look good but skinnies are just so much more versatile. You can wear them with any style shirt and pretty much any type of shoe whereas wide leg jeans can pretty much only go with a fitted top or else you look kind of shapeless. And for shoes, it's pretty much ballet flats or heels because anything else just looks dumb. I've tried pairing mine with flat boots and I can't even bear how awkward it looks (but that's just me). I'm not going to lie, I wore my pair out the last night of fall semester and I think they're great for making you look more dressed up than you actually. I love my wide legs and I'll more than likely buy more (I have a serious jeans obsession) but I'm not sure I'm ready to retire my skinnies j u s t yet.
What do you guys think? Ready to make room in your jeans drawer for some of these lovelies?

disposable is the new digital
Posted by

In October, I went to go visit my best friend at Texas A&M and totally forgot my camera charger. Of course, I convinced myself that my camera was going to die within two hours and immediately freaked out. I decided to try doing things a little old school and ended up stopping by a Wal-Mart to pick up a double pack of disposable cameras. Needless to say, my digital camera was totally fine and I didn't even end up using the disposables while in College Station. Happy ending blah blah blah but that's not where the story ended. Fast forward a few weekends when I'm getting ready for a night out; I dug up my disposable and headed out for the night, using up all the film before 1 am. I felt like I was back in middle school with that thing (in a good way!) and people thought it was hilarious that I had a non digital camera. Well I finally got the camera developed today and I am in LOVE with the results! The pictures came out way better than I thought with absolutely NO blurriness or red eyes or anything. I don't even get those kind of results with my digital! I was kind of skeptical at first of not being able to immediately see the pictures but I actually ended up kind of liking the anticipation of it all. Plus I love that I now have hard copies of all these pictures without having to go through any extra steps. I have so many pictures that I always mean to print out but never actually get around to. These are all ready and raring to go...totally posting some of these bad boys up on my wall when I get back. Not going to lie though, uploading them to facebook was kind of a pain because I had to scan them all in then crop them to the right size blah blah blah but I def think it was worth it. Looks like I might have to put my trusty fujifilm into semi-retirement....

Let's be perfectly honest...sometimes I dress like a hobo. And when I say "hobo," i actually mean Lindsey Lohan circa 2009. Now don't get me wrong, there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with leggings and a nice plaid button down. These are things we all like. They do become a problem when that's all I wear for like 3 weeks straight. I have been wearing variations of the exact same outfit since I got home like a month ago. That's not okay. It's not even that I don't have enough articles of clothing to choose from because I literally brought half of my winter wardrobe back home for break but it's just so hard to make myself want to put on new interesting outfits when I don't ever go anywhere except maybe the grocery store and I only see my family since everyone else's winter breaks are over. I just spent 30 minutes trying to make a collage to show you what my wardrobe's currently been consisting of but that stupid site was giving me a headache so I'll try again later when I have more patience haha. Kind of ready to go back just to have access to my full closet and see people again. Can you tell I'm getting a little stir-crazy here in Maryland?

oh snap guidos and guidettes! It's the season 3 premiere of JERSEY SHORE! This show is beyond trashy but I can't turn away from it if I tried. Not really sure how this thing became such a phenomenon and the catalyst for many a frat party theme (fact: one of my pictures from "my year in pics" is from a Jersey Shore party) but I don't hate it. One thing I do hate: the fact that Snooki just "wrote" a "novel." No, I'm serious. There are excerpts online...find them and prepare to die. One of my favorites is "Gia danced around a little, shaking her peaches for show. She shook it hard. Too hard. In the middle of a shimmy, her stomach cramped. A fart slipped out. A loud one. And stinky." Quality writing right there my friends. M'kay time to go pop some popcorn and get my jersey shore on. Catch ya later juice heads

Trying to make sure my schedule for next semester is absolutely perfect. Last semester, I had Mondays and Fridays off (4 day weekend...EVERY weekend) but no way am I getting that lucky this year. To make up for it, I've decided to take East Asian Studies 101 and a class about musicals because how hard can they be? Pray to God, those aren't famous last words...
Anyways, I know that I'm waaay behind the curve on this but I finally downloaded the new Girl Talk mixtape and I am in HEARTS with it. He actually came to my school the spring of my sophomore year and I'm still mad at myself for not going...everyone who went had such an awesome time. Actually that seems to be a habit of mine because Wiz Khalifa and Chiddy Bang both came last spring and I didn't go to those either. I'm only slightly bitter but whatever. Seriously though this album is the bomb dot com and you can still get it so I suggest you download it here right this very second if you haven't already. Also, another artist that I found this summer but forgot about until last night is Hoodie Allen. Listen to this and then tell me you don't want to hear more.
What? You want more, you say? Well good thing his album is still free too! Download that bad boy here.

i love lists. Making lists, crossing things off lists, finishing lists, making lists of the things I need to make lists of...all of it. I'll admit I have a problem. But my love of lists makes me love making new year's resolutions. Honestly I don't care it I accomplish all of my resolutions but I like making them anyways. I would share them with you but you'd probably think they were boring so instead I'll just show you pictures of things I'm seriously craving r i g h t now.
New dark wash skinnies to replace the pair I ripped
when I tried to see how high I could kick...oops
Aviators. I have a serious sunglasses addiction.
I'll be honest...I actually already own this
BUT I'm craving to wear it.
I accidentally left it at school wah
I never even wear heels and these are
completely impractical but I waaant them
I've been really feeling rings lately...nuff said
See? Much more interesting than listening to me talk about how I need to eat more breakfast and less ramen or whatever

Bonus points for anyone who can figure out what movie the title of this post is from
When I was doing my little survey thing last night, I realized I never gave you guys any idea who I was or anything...other than I'm graduating but that's only part of who I am right now. I'm really bad at these "about me" things so bear with me haha
I'm taylor and a senior in college. I go to Dickinson College which is this pretty small school in Pennsylvania; I love and hate that it's so small...it means you know everything about everyone whether you know them personally or not. My dad's in the military so I've kind of grown up all over the world. I was born in Germany, went to high school in Texas, go to school in PA, and my family currently lives in Maryland. Moving around so much means (almost every 3 to 4 years!) you have to be really secure with who you are or the whole process gets a littttle overwhelming haha. Even though I'm pretty good with where I am now, I'm still trying to think about what's ahead. I started this blog kind of on a whim but I promise it'll get a LOT more interesting when I get back to school for second semester. Right now, I'm basically doing a lot of lying around in bed and that's just not exciting.
What else? I'm captain of my cheerleading squad and a member of a sorority. I was class vp sophomore year and president my junior year and yes, I realize I sound like a total cliche but I promise I'm not. I love "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," vanilla flavored anything, music, reading, cowboy boots, and my blackberry. I wear way too much black clothing, talk way too loudly, laugh way too obnoxiously and spend way too much time looking at clothes online that I can't actually afford to buy on my college budget.
I'm not sure what else you need or want to know so if you think of any interesting questions, just let me know! I'll probably answer them :)

HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRR!
Hard to believe that it's 2011 already! I feel like I just started college and here I am getting ready to graduate in a matter of months. I cannot even begin to fully comprehend that. I had a great 2010 and I'm really excited and nervous to see what twenty eleven has to offer me. I'm still trying to figure out my New Year's "resolutions" so more on that later but here are some of my favorite pictures from 2010 (i think one resolution is going to definitely be to use my camera more!):
