nailed it

If there's one thing I love it's nail polish. My dresser boasts an impressive display of at least 15 to 20 different colors. I love that it's so easy to apply, cheap, and that it can really change your mood just by looking at your fingertips. I always have to talk myself out of buying more bottles because, honestly, what normal person needs that many different colors? Besides, I can never just stop at one. My latest promise to myself: no more nail polish  until at least November. It's only the first official day of summer and I've already cracked. Stopped in at ULTA today and got sidetracked by the bright sunny colors just begging to just be tested. After painting each of my nails a different color, I finally decided on a neon pink and a more dusky blue. This is actually pretty unusual for me because I usually find myself drawn to darker colors during the summer and jewel tones during the winter. I'm not generally the hot pink nail polish kind of person but I have been obsessed with obnoxiously bright colors lately and these were perfect.

These aren't my fingers but, if possible, the color looks even brighter on my nails. Seriously. It looks like Barbie threw up on them...THAT'S how bright they are.

Even though I said that the blue is a duskier color, it still more than holds it own against the supah pink my fingers have on right now.

I'm off to the Poconos for a few days with the family and I don't think I'll be bringing my computer so I most likely won't be posting again till the weekend but I'll try to come back with loads of stories to share. Have a great rest of your week!

it's like mixing apples and oranges

I had such an iiiiinteresting weekend...I still can't decide if I enjoyed it or not though. I did the usual weekend activities but it just seemed a little off this time. Whateva. I have gotten, oh I don't know, about ZERO percent of my schoolwork done this weekend. I just couldn't be a productive member of society if I tried right now. So instead of using Saturday afternoon to study for my upcoming test, I spent way too much time doing my nails.

Friday was absolutely GORGEOUS. 65 degrees in the middle of February? Why, yes please! I fully took advantage of the situation by wearing a skirt without tights for the first time in a really long time and I know that mixing patterns is like a really sensitive subject with people but I absolutely love doing it. On Friday, I successfully incorporated stripes and polka dots in a particularly aesthetically pleasing way if I do say so myself (hint: I do). The key is really keeping a consistent color scheme going on.

And in keeping with my 30 Day Photo Challenge, here's my picture for day numero dos.
senior year of high school. don't judge.
Today's rule was to post a picture of you and the person that you've been closest with for the longest and this, my dear followers, is my best friend from high school. Given that I move around so much, I'm actually really terrible at keeping in touch with people and this is actually one of the few that I've ever actually succeeded with. We haven't actually gotten a chance to hang out together in years since he goes to school in Texas and I'm obviously in Maryland and Pennsylvania but we text each other pretty frequently so it's all good. Hi Bernard!

it is better to have raged and lost than to have never raged at all. tfm.

It's just going to be one of those weeks...I can tell. One of those weeks where even though nothing is technically wrong, the whole thing just feels a little bit off. Is there a cure for those kinds of weeks yet because if so, holla at yo gurlllll. I've been trying to change the mood of the week byyyyy
  • painting my nails a super BRIGHT color

not my hands but pretty much the same polish color
  • making soup from scratch
also not my actual soup. you know this because i have prettier bowls
  • wearing super dressy outfits

on mondays, we wear black
  • wearing super NOT dressy outfits

please notice that both my dressy and not dressy outfits showcase serious black.

  • watching laser light shows at my friends' place (having dj friends is fun!)

finally...actually our laser shows
  • eating suuuuuper sour apples
  • and my favorite....spending way too much time on my new favorite website, Total Frat Move

Seriously though. I DIE for TFM (as insider's call it). Read it! Although warning do not read it if you are a sensitive, easily offended boring person (just kidding...you're not boring). This website has a very specific audience so keep that in mind! warning over I personally don't think the TSMs on the site are as funny as the TFMs but they're still definitely true....I def have some girls like that in my sorority. Sad but true.

At this rate, the week will be over before I know it!

deep in the heart of texas

OH EM GEE! Two of my most favoritest things in the entire world are being combined into one twelve bottles of awesome-ness and amazing-ness and any other a(blank)-ness words that I am currently forgetting.

Texas + OPI nail polish = happy happy joy joy

Okay so it might be a litttttttle bit strange to be so excited for nail polish but I literally think nail polish might be my favorite beauty product ever (next to foundation but does that really count?). I own way too many bottles and get such a kick out of painting my fingers and toes in pretty, not typical colors. PLUS, I just love Texas. I went to Killeen High School (home of the fighting kangaroos! yes, my mascot was the kangaroo.) in Central Texas and I can honestly say that everything is bigger in Texas...especially the high school football...but I digress.

I'm really loving Suzi Loves Cowboys because who doesn't I've been looking for a nice chocolately brown color forever. What are your favorites?

roma roma-ma

I've been craving a new fun nail polish for a few weeks now and after seeing a model wearing white in a story in the January issue of one of my favorite magazines, I was feeling really inspired so I bought some OPI Alpine Snow for myself earlier today. I think I may actually have found my new favorite shade! It looks really fun and fresh because white's such an unexpected color for nails. My little brother says it makes my hands pop (whatever that means) so I feel like this color will be in heavy rotation when I get back to school. Oh and fun fact: apparently this is the same nail polish used in Lady GaGa's Bad Romance video! Cool!
